What does PDL do?
- Peer support when an incident occurs and is reported.
- Legal representation if called before an inquest.
- Once-off legal advice on any matter of concern.
- Ownership of the APPCo Australian Pharmaceutical Publishing
Company - publishers of the AJP Australian Journal of
Pharmacy - PS Postscript - JCM Journal of
Complementary Medicine - NHB Natural Health & Beauty
magazines. APPGuide, which includes such features as Drug-Drug
interactions and Herb-Drug interactions etc. APPCo is also
the distributor for Pharmpress publications.
- Financial support for pharmacists and pharmacy organisations
in order to optimise the quality of care provided to the
public.
- PDL has acquired assets during the life of the company and
uses the return on these investments, to support continuing
education, prizes, training, conferences, research, pharmacy
schools and many special projects. Annual assistance to the
profession averages around $350,000 pa.
- Preservation of Pharmacy Artefacts of a unique nature so that
they remain within the profession and do not disappear into the
obscurity of private collections.
- These artefacts are on display in various locations,
including the Victorian College of Pharmacy, PSA (Vic Branch),
PSA (Tas Branch), PGA (Tas Branch), University of Sydney,
Curtain University WA and other sites are being arranged.
- PDL continues to be interested in purchasing unique items to
add to the collection, so please give us first option when
considering making them available.
- PDL is often sourced in an advisory capacity for the national
and state pharmacy bodies including the TGA, especially in the
area of labelling and packaging.
